Frequently Asked Questions
Who is academic coaching for ?
Academic coaching is designed for middle school, high school, and university students, as well as adults returning to study who need support in their new role as learners (methodology, organization, memorization, etc.).
What is the minimum age for academic coaching ?
Academic coaching is suitable from Year 6 / Grade 5, provided the student has enough maturity to reflect on their learning methods.
What can we work on in academic coaching ?
Academic coaching covers a wide range of areas, from learning difficulties to academic guidance, and the overall well-being of the student.
What is the difference between tutoring and academic coaching ?
Tutoring addresses gaps or temporary difficulties in specific subjects. Academic coaching targets the root causes of these difficulties to remove blockages, benefiting all areas of learning.
How long does an academic coaching session last ?
An academic coaching session generally lasts one hour.
How many academic coaching sessions are typically needed ?
Coaching aims to foster the learner's autonomy. We create an action plan during the first meeting with the coachee and the parents. Typically, support lasts 5 to 6 sessions: the first 3 weekly, then every 2 to 3 weeks. This approach promotes the coachee's independence in applying new learning strategies.
The number of sessions may vary based on the learner’s needs.
Where do academic coaching sessions take place ?
Sessions usually occur in the coach's office. The coach may sometimes ask to have a session at the student's home to consider their working environment.
Home sessions could be arranged. Compensation may then be requested for the travel.
How much does an academic coaching session cost ?
A one-hour individual session is charged 65 euros.
Is there a charge for the first meeting with the parents ?
Yes, the first meeting costs 65 euros. The initial 15 minutes allow parents and the student to discuss difficulties, followed by the first individual coaching session.
Is it possible to do the sessions remotely ?
Yes, in some cases. However, the first meeting is recommended to be in person.
